Job Summary/Basic Function: The Office of Global Engagement (OGE), formerly the Office of International Affairs, seeks a Grant Researcher to support the work of international engagement at Teachers College. The primary responsibilities of the Grant Researcher are to maintain an accurate and comprehensive grants database for TC faculty and students engaged in international work; and to create newsletters that highlight funding opportunities relevant to the TC community. In addition, the Grant Researcher may be asked to conduct research related to issues around international education. In this capacity, the Grant Researcher will work closely with the rest of the OGE team to prepare literature reviews and presentations on relevant topics. The Grant Researcher may also be asked to assist with visits from international delegations; and with organizing meetings and events.

This position is for AY2022-2023. The anticipated start date is September 6, 2022 with a possibility of renewal in the subsequent academic year depending on funding. Characteristic Duties & Responsibilities:

Grant Research (70%)

  • Search for available and relevant grants across multiple databases
  • Design, draft and edit funding newsletters for faculty and students
  • Summarize Requests for Proposals (RFPs)
  • Research and summarize background material for funding proposals
  • Maintain the International Grants Database; and a calendar of submission deadlines
  • Project Research (20%)

  • Research literature and analyze data relevant to project topics (e.g. issues around international education, etc.)
  • Prepare literature reviews, reports and presentations on relevant topics
  • Other (10%)

  • Assist with delegation visits and other OGE-events
  • Support various administrative activities and clerical tasks as assigned
  • Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be a student matriculated in a TC degree program (full-time TC employees are not eligible)
  • Must have been awarded federal work-study for the term in which a work- study position is being sought
  • Must be taking at least 6 credits (or equivalent, which includes full- time equivalent offerings - HBSK 6480, CCPJ 6480, CCPX 6480, or any 8900 course)
  • Must be able to abide by the Student Confidentiality Agreement and the Student Privacy Requirements
  • Knowledge and/or experience with sourcing for funding opportunities
  • Must be a strong writer and able to research and edit large volumes of information
  • Able to multitask, prioritize and work with little supervision
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Strong team player; able to work with a diverse group of staff and faculty
  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with grant writing
  • Experience with designing templates on platforms such as Canva
  • Knowledge and/or experience with qualitative research tools such as nVivo, Qualtrics, Dedoose
