Position Title Graduate Research Assistant for Rural Health Outreach Program

The Graduate Research Assistant (GRA) is responsible for assisting the
Project Directors with a research project involving student outreach to rural
vaccine-hesitant communities in South Texas to promote vaccination .
This is a student position open to current UIW graduate students.
This graduate assistant position is funded via tuition assistance. (See work
hours for details).
The GRA will assist with the following:
Assist with the development of Qualtrics survey tool;
Assist in developing and maintaining social media sites (Facebook and
Instagram), and website;
Supervision of undergraduate outreach effort (e.g., maintaining a log to
track contacts and hours in the field;
Some undergraduate training;
Managing conflict and troubleshooting research project issues;
Basic data analysis using Excel and SPSS;
Assist with monthly report writing;
Assist with developing marketing and social marketing materials;
Attend and occasionally lead weekly meetings;
Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Data collection, familiarity with Qualtrics, basic data management and
analysis using Excel and SPSS;
Good oral and written communication skills, cultural competency,
understanding of basic research methods;
Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and
Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the
University, the Conference, and the NCAA.
Current UIW graduate or doctoral student in good academic standing with
the University, enrolled in at least six hours in the semester or session
in which the appointment occurs
Doctoral students in dissertation writing who have completed their minimum
dissertation enrollment and are on “continuous enrollment” status may meet
this requirement with one hour of enrollment.
Required Work Experience
Spanish-language bilingual preferred.
Health professional or organizational development knowledge preferred.
Experience teaching, or training preferred.
Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations
Students receiving assistance for 3 credit hours work 10 hours per week,
150 hours per semester.
Position includes spring and summer semesters.
