Position Title (Classification Title): Graduate Assistant

Working Title: Career Education Graduate Assistant Job Summary: The Career Education (CE) Graduate Assistant will assist with departmental efforts related to creating opportunities to connect with and support UWF students and alumni in their job search and to assist them in their path to career readiness. These efforts include conducting career coaching appointments with students and alumni, providing career instruction through CDCE presentations or workshops, assisting with the organization and facilitation of CDCE programming initiatives, including career fairs and other events, collaborating with campus partners, and other duties as assigned. Department Career Development FLSA: Non-Exempt Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must be a graduate student at the University of West Florida and pursuing work related to the student's graduate studies program.

Position Qualifications: Must register and complete a minimum of 6 hours of coursework per semester (fall, spring, and summer) or be registered for thesis credit. Must have experience with computer programs including standard office software, email, and internet applications. Must be very organized and able to understand, interpret, analyze, and process various forms of data. Must demonstrate outstanding interpersonal and communication skills. Preferred Qualifications A graduate student in the College Student Affairs Administration program will be a preferred candidate for this position. Previous experience working on a college campus within Career Services or Student Affairs programming. Ability to collaborate with a variety of campus partners and external stakeholders. Essential Functions / Job Duties:

  • 60% - Student Contact Facilitate one-on-one and group appointments with students and alumni seeking assistance on topics including, but not limited to career exploration, job searching, interviewing, experiential learning, resumes/cover letters, etc. Develop and deliver presentations and workshops on career-related topics through pre-published workshops at the request of faculty and student organizations. Meet students where they are, through “On-the-Go” remote Career Coaching sessions. Leverage available technology and resources to develop and/or implement strategies, programs, and other materials that support the specific career development needs of individual students and alumni. - (Essential)
  • 20% - Outreach and Events Assist in the organization and management of CDCE programming initiatives, including career fairs and other events; by helping plan, promote, facilitate, and evaluate, as needed. Collaborate with other UWF departments and events, where necessary to support career development initiatives. Use social media and other common UWF mediums for the promotion of CDCE programs and events as well as other information relating to career preparation. Conduct training sessions with Career Development & Community Engagement (CDCE) staff as well as other constituents regarding career development issues affecting students/alumni. - (Essential)
  • 20% - Administration Supervise Career Peers and/or other undergraduate student staff, when called upon to do so. Adhere to procedures pertinent to students, alumni, faculty, staff, and employers specifically in the area of career education. Conduct research and assist in the collection of data to stay abreast of global and institutional trends, resources, and student needs in career development, as directed. Participate in the Career Education team's annual planning, budgeting, and goal-reporting processes. Contribute to the overall mission of CDCE at UWF. Other Duties as assigned. - (Essential)
