Job Title Graduate Assistant -Student-Athlete Academic Support

Saint Peter's University, an NCAA Division 1 institution part of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, is accepting applications for a graduate assistant position in academic support/development/compliance during the 2023-2024 academic year, with possibility of contract extension for the 2024-2025 academic year (pending year-end performance review).

This position is designed to provide many great opportunities to gain hands-on experience in the areas of Student-Athlete Academic Support and Development within Division 1 intercollegiate athletics. This position will report directly to the Director of Student-Athlete Academic Support and the Director of Student-Athlete Development and Leadership.

This position will begin at the start of the fall semester, in August 2023, and will conclude at the end of the spring semester, in May 2024, with possible second year extension.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist with student-athlete study hall, tutoring, registration and advisement, and academic meetings.
  • Co-advise the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, keep record of community service events, and assist with programming of events.
  • Provide one-on-one mentoring assistance to at-risk student-athletes.
  • Prepare travel letters and distribute them accordingly.
  • Assist with special projects assigned requiring data collection, analysis, workshops, and interpretation of reports, etc.
  • Monitor progress towards degree relating institutional requirements and NCAA legislation.
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and
  • weekends.
  • Ability to adhere to NCAA rules and the Family Educational Rights to Privacy Act (FERPA).
  • Create a positive environment for alf student-athletes and conduct yourself in a professional manner.
  • Assume additional duties and responsibilities as determined and assigned.
  • Qualification Standards

  • Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality while working with student-athletes.
  • Experience as a student-athlete at the college level or experience working withcollege student-athletes, previous experience advising, mentoring, and/orcounseling is preferred.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, high attention to detail, excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Knowledge of and adherence to NCAA and member conference rules and regulations is preferred.
  • Interest in the fields of student-athlete academic support and development.
  • Successful background check clearances.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the mission of Saint Peter's University.
  • Education

    Bachelor's degree required.

    Physical Demands Experience

    All interested candidates will need to successfully enroll in a full-time graduate program at Saint Peter's University in order to be eligible for the assistantship
