Job Summary
The Graduate Assistant will assist with the planning, producing and execution
of events on the Hattiesburg and Tradition campus.

Assist the university in implementing William Carey University's Statement
of Purpose
Assist the university in implementing the long-range institutional and
financial plans
Perform job responsibilities in accordance with policies and procedures.
Tasks may vary depending on the assigned department
Provide excellent customer service to visitors and staff of the assigned
area
Perform general office support duties within a department, which could
include: answering the telephone, scheduling appointments, making copies,
sorting and delivering mail, and filing
Perform duties in accordance with policies and procedures
Attend events to help with set up and execution
Make calls to sell seats for events
Pick up necessary items to decorate for events
Other duties designated by assigned supervisor
Required Qualifications
Completion of the annual FAFSA financial aid form (waived for
international students)
Bachelor's degree
Full admittance into one of WCU's graduate programs
Must be enrolled in graduate courses for each term working as a graduate
assistant
Ability to work assigned hours per week during the academic school year
Ability to multi-task
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Willingness to dress appropriately for a professional work setting
Willingness to learn new software applications
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
Additional qualifications may be required by department
Preferred Qualifications
Those things desired above the minimum qualifications. Additional years
of experience, experience pertaining to a specific area.
Experience in event planning and execution
Experience in phone call sales
Experience in event set-up
Experience in memorization on layouts/list
Physical Demands
Indicate physical demands specific to the position
Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting, and to use
standard office equipment including a computer and 10-key calculator
Must have vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing
and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone
Must have the ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
Must have strength and agility to move files, paper boxes, and minor
office equipment
Must have ability to lift and carry 25 pounds
Must be able to maintain office hours and perform duties in an on-campus
setting
