Would you like to work at the heart of one of the best Universities in Yorkshire? The University of Hull has experienced significant growth and investment in recent years and has a new strategy to guide our future ambitions.

To ensure that we continue to progress to success in the future, the University is seeking to appoint a Governance Officer to assist in the smooth running of this critical and busy central function. This is an ideal opportunity for those seeking to either start their career in governance or to progress from other roles. Although previous experience in a governance role is not essential, knowledge and experience of committee support and the production and editing of complex documents would be expected.

The Governance Officer will have the opportunity to learn and be involved in all aspects of the formal governance of the University, including high level committee support, policy and regulation creation and management, and ensuring that the principles of good governance are understood and applied consistently.

The postholder will be comfortable communicating verbally and in writing with colleagues at all levels, both internal and external, and will be expected to show initiative and problem solving skills to assist with varied queries. They will be able to learn complex requirements quickly and have the ability to suggest and implement process improvements to help all stakeholders.

If you wish to learn more or to discuss the role informally, please contact Derek Ord, Governance Manager, at [email protected]
