Job Title GIS Associate Job Description

The Children's Environmental Health Initiative (CEHI) at the University of Notre Dame is currently recruiting for a GIS Associate to provide support to a series of spatially based research projects focused on health outcomes.

About CEHI CEHI is a research, education, and outreach program committed to fostering environments where all people can prosper. CEHI oversees multiple environmental research projects emphasizing the special vulnerabilities of children. CEHI projects focus on incorporating innovative spatial analysis in combination with field-based sampling into children's environmental health research. CEHI maintains a deep institutional commitment to issues of social justice and thus focuses much of its work in low income and minority communities.

About the role Specific tasks include but are not limited to: technical support for GIS related research projects, data processing, dataset management, assist in website development, test and documentation.

This is a limited term staff position with an expected duration of 2-3 years. This position will be located on campus, in South Bend, IN.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required in geographic information systems, geography, planning, landscape architecture, civil engineering, computer science, or a related field and 1-2 years of professional experience.

Skills we are seeking include: Ability to write technical documents and research reports Ability to program using tools such as Python, VBA, JavaScript, ArcGIS and to learn other languages necessary to facilitate the GIS functions Basic knowledge about web development Knowledge in Database / Dataset management Ability to work in a team-based environment; meet deadlines in a fast-paced multitasking environment Excellent written, visual, and verbal communication skills Analytical and statistical skills especially spatial analysis and modeling

Preferred Qualifications

Candidate should have related experience using GIS software, GIS-based programming, and application development experience in web/desktop environment (e.g., R, JavaScript, Python, CSS, Tableau)
