Description

Under intermittent supervision, maintains and repairs a variety of building facilities in a highly skilled craft capacity. Provides intermediate service for general maintenance, including but not limited to carpentry, painting, plumbing, general maintenance, metal, exterior maintenance, and event setup.

  • Performs the duties of building and preventative maintenance in trades such as plumbing, carpentry, painting, general maintenance, mechanical, metal, roofing, and exterior maintenance as required.
  • May assist other specialized crafts in larger, more complex projects and assists other shops as needed including scheduled moves and event setup.
  • Surveys work order areas and may setup and/or assist more experienced Maintenance Technicians or specialized personnel such as plumbers, carpenters, painters, roofers, etc.
  • Reads blueprints, works from specifications, and follows instructions both written and oral.
  • Provides timely and courteous customer service, keeps supervisors up to date on daily work order statuses to ensure clear, concise and necessary communication channels are maintained and customer expectations are met.
  • Orders supplies and materials and maintains adequate inventory levels for maintenance tasks.
  • Performs make readies of classrooms and dorm rooms as needed.
  • Considered essential personnel and may be assigned to serve on special task force during periods of an emergency.
  • May occasionally clean small areas of organic substances.
  • Will occasionally be on call. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    High school and No experience

    Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent GED. No experience required.

    Preferred qualifications:

    Experience working in a hotel or similar facility preferred.

N Hilton College includes our upscale teaching hotel, the Hilton University of Houston hotel which is undergoing an expansion to include a new five-story, 70-room guest tower that will increase the total number of guest rooms to 150. This project also includes a two-phase renovation of the existing 80 guest rooms in the eight-story North Tower. Construction of the new tower began in July 2021 and is anticipated to be completed by February 2023.
