Full-time or Part-time Research Assistant I/II (several posts) in the Centre for Safe Medication Practice and Research, Department of Pharmacology and Pharmacy (Ref.: 523338)

Duties and Responsibilities (for the position focus on research works)

  • work with a team of researchers on projects related to big data, pharmacoepidemiology and pharmacoeconomics of medication safety, effectiveness, cost and preferences in areas including cardiology, mental health, oncology and infectious diseases
  • conduct standard statistical analysis of economic and/or epidemiological data and interpret results
  • manage and analyze large quantitative data sets
  • assist with qualitative research, prepare and manage submission to IRB
  • assist in the implementation of research projects in the Hong Kong SAR and across mainland China

  • Requirements

  • a Bachelor's degree in Biostatistics, Health Economics, Pharmacy, Computer Science, Public Health or a related healthcare discipline with at least 1 year of relevant experience
  • a strong background in analysis of large and complex datasets using R, SAS, STATA, NVivo or other tools, and mixed methods research will have an advantage
  • have the ability to implement statistical analysis of epidemiological data with correct interpretation of the results
  • excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • a good command of spoken and written English and Chinese
  • Duties and Responsibilities (for the position focus on administrative duties)

  • prepare and manage submission to funding agencies and IRBs
  • support pre- and post- research award administrative duties, support research related financial control, budgeting and reporting
  • support administrative duties related to knowledge exchange and IT projects
  • support administrative duties to implement research projects and other duties as assigned

  • Requirements

  • a Bachelor's degree in Biostatistics, Health Economics, Pharmacy, Computer Science, Public Health or a related healthcare discipline with at least 1 year of relevant experience
  • a strong background in local and international research related applications (e.g. grants and IRBs) and management systems will have an advantage
  • have excellent communication and project management skills with attention to details
  • a good command of spoken and written English and Chinese
  • a strong sense of responsibility and the ability to work independently as well as in a team

    The appointment will commence as soon as possible on a 1-year temporary basis or a 2-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.

    A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered. The appointment on fixed terms will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 10% of basic salary. Other benefits include annual leave, medical benefits and free access to on-campus gyms and libraries.
