COMMUNICATION STUDIES - Full-time Lecturer in the Communication Studies Department, College of Liberal Arts, Cal Poly State University, San Luis Obispo, California to begin September 14, 2023. Recruitment is for one position with a two-year appointment. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Primary duties and responsibilities include teaching basic oral communication courses. Additional teaching responsibilities may include teaching classes in communication theory, intercultural communication and/or argumentation, depending on department need as well as applicant background. The teaching load is 3 - 4 four-unit courses per quarter, with a total of 45 units across the academic year. A.B.D. or Ph.D. in Communication or closely related field and a successful teaching record in oral communication courses are required.
Initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background and are determined by the hiring department. Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank. As of July 2022, the classification salary ranges for the respective ranks are: Lecturer A: $4,530-$6,056 Lecturer B: $5,405-$11,994 Lecturer C: $6,190-$13,172 Lecturer D: $7,794-$13,797

The Department of Communication Studies offers a highly selective BA degree in Communication Studies, with over 350 undergraduate majors, as well as a minor in Communication Studies. The department also offers general education courses to the university.
