Faculty Position Information

Basic Responsibilities A. Provide high quality instruction, direction and support for students in the online classroom environment. B. Serve as chair and committee member for DNP Projects. C. Participate with the program faculty and Program Director in planning, development, implementation of program and curriculum. D. Engage in an ongoing research agenda and/or maintaining clinical competency and certification.

Essential Duties A. Provide high quality instruction, direction and support for students in the online classroom environment. 1. Teach (18) credit hours per academic year. 2. Provide rich and timely feedback on student work, being both encouraging and constructively critical. 3. Facilitate class size of up to approximately 22 students. 4. Place students in groups for assignments/discussions. 5. Provide timely and helpful answers to students' inquiries regarding course material or academic matters. 6. Conduct periodic synchronous interaction sessions. 7. Facilitate and grade all assignments in a timely manner. 8. Enter final course grades after consultation with lead faculty and/or Program director by CGPS deadline. 9. Alert lead faculty and/or Program Director to any student issues. This includes performance issues (e.g. failing grades, failing to turn in assignments, etc.) and policy violation issues (e.g. plagiarism). 10. Engage in andragogically sound teaching methods designed for an adult learner. 11. Comply with all pertinent policies and procedures outlined in Abilene Christian University's Handbook, Faculty Guidelines, and those specified by ACU's College of Graduate and Professional Studies. 12. Other duties, as assigned and directed by lead faculty and/or program director.

B. Serve as chair and/or committee member for DNP Projects. 1. Serve as team chair on (6) project committees and as a team member on (6) committees, which counts as (8) credit hours. Can substitute service as (1) chair for service on (3) committees, with Program Director approval. 2. In Chair role, manage and supervise the committee members and methodologists of assigned students. Responsibilities include the following: Facilitate the successful completion of all IRB protocols; guide, supervise and mentor the student through all phases of project, consistent with the timelines and expectations found in the DNP Project Handbook; communicate and collaborate as needed with other committee members; and, review student's clinical log to ensure project development activities are appropriate. 3. Work collaboratively with the Manager of Dissertation and Projects and the Assistant Manager of Dissertation and Projects regarding committee assignments.

C. Participate with the program faculty and Program Director and in planning, development, implementation of program and curriculum. 1. Provide feedback to Program Director for program and/or course improvement. 2. Participate in program and faculty meetings. 3. Attend/complete program and CGPS faculty trainings and provide credentialing/records updates as required. 4. Represent university at conferences, as able and as directed by Program Director. D. Engage in an ongoing research agenda and/or maintaining clinical competency and certification. 1. Develop and maintain an ongoing research agenda. 2. Gain and maintain knowledge of trends and information pertaining to program field through current practice, professional reading, active research and/or continuing education. 3. Participate in clinical and/or scholarly activities as explained in the ACU Dallas Faculty Handbook designed to maintain credentialing in the field of nursing practice.

Provide quality instruction and support to student while maintaining academic and university standards at the doctoral level. 7. Ability to collaborate or work independently as the situation requires. 8. Current and unencumbered personal nursing licensure. 9. Knowledge of CCNE accreditation standards and processes.

B. Training Modules Required 1. Microsoft Word, Excel, Access 2. Google Calendar, Mail, Sheets and Docs 3. Canvas and Bridge (on-Line Learning Platforms)

Qualifications

A. Professional 1. Terminal degree in a health-related field, bachelor's and master's degree in a nursing. 2. Current, unencumbered registered nurse and/or advanced practice nurse licensure. 3. 3-5 years of clinical, managerial and/or leadership experience, preferably in diverse populations. 4. Experience in research design/methodology. 5. Evidence of quality research completed in the last ten years e.g. publications in peer reviewed journals, conference presentations, program evaluation reports, etc.. 6. Instructional experience and working in a team environment, including in an online environment preferred. 7. Computer literate in software and internet based applications. 8. Proficient in APA style (formatting, citation requirements, punctuation, etc.).

B. Personal 1. Strong communication skills, both written and oral. 2. Ability to view and manage role and responsibilities in relation to larger mission, goals and perspective of the University. 3. Collaborative nature, with the ability to build consensus. 4. Outstanding organizational and project management skills with the ability to consistently meet deadlines. 5. Self-motivated and solves problems, asking for input and initiating solutions as appropriate and reasonable. 6. Capacity to quickly learn new software applications 7. Willingness to receive additional training and/or faculty mentoring. 8. Ability to demonstrate good judgment when interacting with students, other faculty and staff.
