The Department of History at the Faculty of Humanities of the Humboldt-­Universität zu Berlin (HU Berlin) is seeking to fill a

Full Professorship for ‘Contemporary History' (W3-S)

starting at the next possible date, as part of a joint appointment procedure with the Leibniz Centre for Contemporary History Potsdam (ZZF). Attached to the professorship is the position of Director of the ZZF, which is to be held jointly with the incumbent director. The directorship of the Leibniz Centre for Contemporary History Potsdam is regulated by its statutes and is limited to five years at a time. Reappointment is possible. The successful candidate will be appointed in accordance with the "Jülich model" (leave of absence model). There is a teaching obligation of two hours per week at the HU Berlin.

For the professorship at the HU Berlin and the directorship at the ZZF Potsdam we are seeking an outstanding academic persona who can demonstrate a high degree of experience with different research fields and methods in German and international contemporary history. Methodically innovative and publicly visible research, an internationally oriented research profile, leadership skills as well as relevant experience in science management and in the acquisition of third-party funding projects are expected.

The applicants must meet the legal requirements for professorial appointments in accordance with § 100 of the `Berliner Hochschulgesetz`.
