The Department of the Built Environment is a vibrant hub of multidisciplinary knowledge, spanning architecture, urban planning, and building technology, including structural design, building physics, materials technology, and building information modeling. Our scope ranges from materials to buildings to cities, with a focus on the human impact of design and technology. We embrace diversity and blend teaching, research, and design to empower students to become thought leaders and shape the future of cities and the construction industry.
Our department comprises approximately 260 academic staff members, including about 190 PhDs, EngDs, and Postdocs, organized into disciplinary units. We encourage scientists to collaborate across their fields of expertise to tackle key themes: energy transition, sustainability, and inclusiveness. We forge partnerships with other TU/e institutes in Energy Transition (EIRES), Artificial Intelligence (EAISI), and the self-founded Urban Development Initiative (UDI), creating ecosystems with government agencies and industry to contribute to a sustainable, inclusive built environment.Job requirements
