Job Description Summary
The Freshman Admission Counselor reports directly to the Associate Director of Freshman Admission and is responsible for an assigned recruitment territory. This includes actively representing the University to prospective students and parents; reviewing applications for undergraduate admissions; and assisting Spanish speaking families with enrollment questions. This position has specific focus on increasing the number of new freshmen recruited and retained by the University.
Responsibilities
Responsible to model the University Mission through dedicated job performance, service excellence to constituencies, respectful collaboration and active support of the University's Mission and Catholic and Lasallian Higher education.
-Manage a specific territory of prospective students throughout the recruitment cycle, including regular correspondence and timely follow up with inquiries and applicants in order to facilitate enrollment of new freshman students -Evaluate freshman application files and recommend admission and scholarship decisions to the Associate Director of Freshman Admission -Meet with prospective students and their families during individual campus visits or other scheduled recruitment events on campus -Support, assist, and advise a diverse population of students whose primary language spoken at home is either Spanish or English through the Lewis University admissions process. -Develop a schedule to represent the university at assigned college fairs and high school visits -Assist with the planning and coordinating of admission related events such as recruitment events, high school counselor visit days, and admitted student days marketed toward both English and Spanish speaking families -Serve as the administrative support liaison between prospective students and the Office of Financial Aid Services -Support the Office of Admission by developing resources, communicating, and planning events marketed toward Spanish speaking families and students. Assist in building and maintaining relationships with high school guidance counselors -Other job-related duties as assigned by the Associate Director of Freshman Admission
Minimum Qualifications
Qualified candidates must hold a bachelor's degree. Looking for energetic and motivated candidates who excel at building relationships and work well in a collaborative environment. Candidates must demonstrate strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills both in English and Spanish. Computer literacy skills must include MS Office tools. Ability to deal with several tasks and work with a large number of individuals concurrently, often without supervision. A valid Illinois driver's license and a safe driving record is also required.
Preferred Qualifications Essential Duties Work hours
Full time; evening and weekend work may be necessary to accomplish enrollment goals.
