  • The Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences of the University of Porto (FPCEUP) hereby opens this

    Call for Applications for one research grant for the project “ProW -Promoting Teachers Well-being through

    Positive Behaviour Supportin Early Childhood Education” (626146-EPP-1-2020-2-EL-EPPKA3-PI-POLICY)

    financed by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union, and developed at Faculty of Psychology and

    Educational Sciences of the University of Porto.

    1. Research field / Scientific area: Psychology, Education, Educational Sciences

    2. Admission requirements:

    To apply for the research grants, applicants must comply with the following requirements, for which

    documentary evidence must be provided:

    a) Master's Degree in Psychology, Education, Early Childhood Education or related areas as long as

    they are directly related to the tasks of the projects (e.g., emotional and social skills; behavior

    management, educational systems);

    b) Be a student enrolled in a doctoral course or in a course that does not confer an academic degree as

    part of the educational project of a higher education institution, developed in association or

    cooperation with one or several R&D units, a requirement to be duly proven in the act of hiring;

    c) Domain of the English language (proved through diplomas/certificates and/or written work in


    d) Previous experience in research projects.

    If the candidate holds a doctoral degree awarded by a foreign higher education institution, it must be

    recognized by a Portuguese higher education institution, in accordance with the provisions of article 25 of

    Decree-Law no. 66/2018 of 16 August, which approves the legal regime for the recognition of academic

    degrees and higher education diplomas awarded by foreign higher education institutions and Article 4 (2)

    (e) of Decree-Law no. 60/2018 of 3 August, and any formalities established therein be fulfilled up to the

    date of the contracting act.

    3. Preferred requirements:

    a) Previous experience in national or international research projects (preferred) in areas relevant to the

    project;b) Experience in the preparation and submission of scientific reports and/or articles in leading

    international journals, with peer review (ISI/SCOPUS), in areas relevant to the project (eg, emotional

    skills; professional development; educational systems);

    c) Immediate availability (to be mentioned in the motivation letter).

    4. Work Plan:

    The activities to be carried out by the scholarship holder include:

    a) Review of international literature within the scope of the project;

    b) Data collection and analysis;

    c) Writing of scientific reports and articles;

    d) Monitoring intervention programs for kindergarten teachers;

    e) Participation in the dissemination of research results.

    5. Applicable Legislation and Regulations:

    The present call is governed by the FCT Regulations for Research Fellowships approved by the Regulation

    n.º 950/2019 and by the Research Fellowship Holder Statute (approved by Law no. 40/2004, of 18th of

    August, in its current version).

    6. Workplace:

    The work will be carried out in Porto, at the FPCEUP premises, under the scientific guidance of Professor

    Joana Cadima.

    7. Duration:

    The scholarship, on an exclusive basis, will have a duration of 12 months, possibly renewable.

    8. Monthly maintenance allowance amount:

    The monthly maintenance allowance is 1.104,64€, according to FCT. Payment will be made by FPCEUP by

    bank transference. In addition, the grant holder will be covered by personal accident insurance.

    9. Evaluation methods:

    Curriculum evaluation (AC), and if the jury deems it necessary, a selection interview (E) to the 6 best-ranked

    candidates. The final classification, on a scale of 0 to 20 values, will be obtained by the following formula: 0.7

    x CA + 0.3 x E. If the interview is not carried out, the final classification will correspond to the classification

    obtained in the CA.

    The curriculum assessment (AC) will take into account the following assessment factors and weighting


    a) Relevance of the Master's Dissertation (10%);

    b) Preference conditions for the project objectives (90%): Previous experience in national or

    international projects (preferred) of research and/or intervention in areas relevant to the project

    (40%);c) Experience in the preparation and submission of reports and/or scientific articles in international

    reference journals, with peer review (ISI/SCOPUS), in areas relevant to the project (40%); Domain

    of English (10%).

    In the event that the selected scholarship holder withdraws, the final ranking list of candidates in this competition may

    be used to replace them, until May 2022. If none of the candidates demonstrates that they have the profile indicated to

    carry out the work plan, the jury reserves the right not to award the scholarship to the competition.

    11. Disclosure of the results:

    Evaluation results will be communicated by email to the address provided by the candidates in the application


    In compliance with the provisions of the Article 121 of the Code of Administrative Procedure (“Código do

    Procedimento Administrativo”), after being notified, candidates have 10 working days to submit a formal


    The final decision must be taken within a maximum period of 60 working days after the conclusion of the

    preliminary hearing of interested parties or of the public consultation. Against the final decision, a complaint

    may be filed, within 15 working days, or, alternatively, an appeal may be filed within 30 working days,

    both counting from the respective notification.

    12. Submission of applications:

    The Call for Applications is open until July 29, 2021.

    The following documents are mandatory, under penalty of exclusion from the Call:

    a) Curriculum Vitae, detailing previous experience in research projects and other responsibilities and

    tasks in which he/she was involved;

    b) Motivation letter;

    c) Copy of the qualification certificate or diploma;

    d) Declaration of Eligibility (attached), only for applicants who are enrolled in courses that do

    not lead to an academic degree, and which do not exceed a period with the signing of this

    scholarship contract, including possible renewals, accumulated of two years in this type of

    scholarship, followed or interpolated, under the terms of number 5 of article 6 of the Regulation

    of Research Scholarships of FCT-Regulation No. 950/2019, published in the Diário da República,

    2nd series, of 16thDecember;e) Other documents considered to be relevant by the candidate for merit appreciation.

    Documents must be attached directly to the application message, without links to external platforms/drives.

    In order to guarantee the reading of all documents, the preferred recording format is the Portable Document Format

    (.pdf).The files must be named with the candidate's first and last name and must not exceed, as a whole, 5 MB. These

    can be compressed in .zip format.
