Job Summary

The Foster Care Liaison and Success Coach reports to the Director of Dual Credit Programs. The Foster Care Liaison and Success Coach will empower high school students with foster care experience and high school graduates with foster care experience to enroll at Lamar State College Port Arthur to recognize and achieve their educational goals. The Foster Care Liaison and Success Coach must exemplify a committed focus to providing opportunities for foster care alumni to succeed in college courses. The Foster Care Liaison and Success Coach will work with high school counselors, high school administrators, Department of Family and Protective Services employees, Preparation for Adult Living Coordinators, Education Specialists, secondary foster care liaisons, Fostering Youth Independence employees, Court Appointed Special Advocates, and foster parents to identify dual credit and traditional students with foster care experience and recruit students. The Coach will help students navigate the admissions and enrollment processes, access and use college technology systems, explore career options, and develop a post- secondary plan which may include employment, military service, enrollment at LSCPA, or enrollment at another college or university. The Foster Care Liaison and Success Coach will monitor student progress and develop and implement strategies to enhance student retention and graduation for all students with foster care experience enrolled in Career and Technical Education pathways. The Foster Care Liaison and Success Coach will serve as the campus foster care liaison and first point of contact for any prospective student with foster care experience. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION /EXPERIENCE: Masters degree is required.

Valid Driver's License with a good driving record.

At least one year of full-time experience in a high school or higher education setting as a faculty member or in a student services/student support role.

Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.

Build rapport with foster care stakeholders.

Communicate complex concepts in simple language to stakeholders

Work in a fast-paced, ambiguous, complex, environment.

Treat all stakeholders with dignity and respect.

Establish effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Follow established college policies and procedures.

Travel frequently to all public, charter, and private high schools in Southeast Texas.

Preferred Qualifications

Master of Social Work is preferred.

Experience as an academic advisor/counselor/recruiter or faculty member in a higher education setting.

Experience working with dual credit programs or students.

SALARY $40,950 Work Hours Full-time 40 hours a week, Occasional overtime may be required.
