About This Opportunity
We are seeking a motivated, organized, reliable, Food and Beverage Supervisor to coordinate and deliver exceptional hospitality services within Patina at Alumni Court, a new high-end restaurant bar and events caterer in the heart of The UQ St Lucia Campus. We are specifically seeking staff with experience in supervising other hospitality staff, including Restaurant, Events and Barista staff.
Patina at Alumni Court is a modern and contemporary restaurant offering relaxed premium dining with an emphasis on paddock to plate philosophy, Patina will offer a unique shared dining experience overlooking the Alumni Gardens. Facilities will also include a private dining room and the kitchen will cater to events both on and offsite.
Staff are required to fulfill 38 hours per week over a seven-day roster including some weekends, evenings and public holidays. This is a full-time fixed term position.
Key responsibilities will include:
The responsibilities of the role may include (but are not limited to):
Supervision and hands on service in the Restaurant and event catering.
Presence and hands on leadership during all service periods.
Management of the electronic restaurant diary.
Handling guest complaints.
High level of maintenance of restaurant equipment and furniture.
Liaison with Event Coordinators and Kitchen team regarding service.
Client liaison – site inspections, general information for visitors.
Security – locking of premises at end of the shift.
POS system updates and programming.
Responsibility for staff and patron care.
To ensure responsible service of alcohol.
Assisting with the day-to-day activities of Patina at Alumni Court.
Complying with COVID safe plan.
Lead by example.
Training of food and beverage attendants.
Supervision and motivation.
Maintaining high service standards at all times.
Working within budgeted wage costs.
Menu and Wine List
Training of new staff in menu knowledge.
Preparation of a menu glossary highlighting dietary requirements.
Programming of POS system.
Stock Control and Ordering
Ordering restaurant supplies to par levels.
Organisation of liquor store, cold room and fridges.
Assist Food and Beverage Manager with monthly stocktakes.
End of day reporting and reconciliation of daily takings.
Finalisation of accounts.
Other duties as reasonably expected by the Food and Beverage.
This role is subject to The University's Code of Conduct.
Two years' supervisory/management experience in a premium dining, high- volume establishment.
Current Queensland Responsible Service of Alcohol Certificate (RSA).
Proven supervisory experience in a high-profile restaurant.
Strong food and wine knowledge.
Competence in programming POS systems.
Well-development communication and negotiation skills.
Highly developed organisational skills and an ability to work under pressure.
Sound understanding of workplace, health and safety issues.
Minimum two years' experience in a supervisory/managerial role.
5-star hotel/premium fine dining restaurant experience will be highly regarded.
Demonstrated team player.
High standard of personal grooming and hygiene.
Customer oriented focus.
Commitment to excellence of product and service.
Well-developed interpersonal skills.
What We Can Offer
This is a full-time , fixed-term position through to December 2023 at Food & Beverage Grade 4 Load Rate.
The full-time equivalent base salary will be $58,866.58 plus super of up to 17%. The total package including superannuation will be $68,873.90.
