An excellent opportunity exists for an experienced, enthusiastic and career- focused Food and Beverage Manager to join the professional team at Patina at Alumni Court. This role is responsible for the effective and successful management of Patina at Alumni Court at the University of Queensland, St Lucia Campus, managing all facets of day-to-day operations while ensuring a high level of standards are maintained across restaurant, events, and off-site catering.
Patina at Alumni Court is a new restaurant constructed in the University of Queensland St Lucia Campus. With the dining space incorporating the heritage- listed former Radon Laboratory, accented with flairs inspired by its inner- city sister venue. Those familiar with Customs House's iconic copper dome may notice Patina's brass and copper-coloured finishes and luxe interiors that flourish in the open-air atmosphere created by the surrounding Alumni Gardens
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the restaurant, and events at Patina at Alumni Court and off-site catering of events
Manage and update POS and reservation diary
Manage client liaison including site inspections and general information for visitors
Supporting in wine list and menu development activities
Ensure staff and patron care in accordance with policies and procedures
Function as Liquor Approved Manager
Manage processes related to stock control, ordering and maintenance of bar levels
Oversee and organise maintenance of equipment, furniture and the building as required
Overseeing the recruitment, selection, and onboarding of new employees in line with recruitment and selection policy and procedures
Facilitating the training of new staff and managing the ongoing training and development of all employees
Management and accountability for wage cost controls, rostering, time sheet approvals, finalisation of client accounts, production of banquet reports and end of shift balancing and reconciliation of bar takings
This is a Full-time (100% FTE), Fixed-term position until 30 June 2026. At HEW Level 6 , the full-time equivalent base salary will be $84,871 to $91,158 plus superannuation of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be $99,300 to $106,655 per annum.
About YouDegree or Diploma in a business / hospitality management course or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and / or education / training
Current RMLV certificate and Liquor approved manager licence
Significant experience in the hospitality industry, including a five star restaurant or events environment
At least 3 years management level experience
Demonstrate a commitment to excellence of product and service
Strong leadership skills to train, supervise and build a successful team
Proactive in problem solving with a focus on continual improvement
Display high integrity and personal ethics
Have a positive attitude and be a team player that leads by example.
Demonstrate a customer-oriented focus
Ability to work under pressure and maintain a focus on overall objectives
