Financial Control Manager
About The Role:
University of Hull has adopted a new finance structure and as a result of this we are recruiting for a number of finance roles. It is an exciting opportunity to join the finance team as we go through a period of change to support the universities strategic goals, this includes major investment in a new financial system.
You will be working alongside the wider finance directorate and stakeholders across the business.
The University Finance function has the responsibility to maximise value for money and ensure increased efficiency, economy and effectiveness. Its focus is on developing a well-trained and coordinated workforce able to add value whilst complying with national guidelines, policy initiatives and its legislative responsibilities
Specific Duties and Responsibilities :
Lead and manage the Financial Control team
Manage and report to stakeholders including but not exclusive to, Head of Finance, Chief Financial Officer, Head of Financial Operations, Head of Finance Business Partnering and University Leadership Team
Implement, own and report on the Financial Control Framework
Ensure all statutory and internal control processes are operating appropriately and efficiently
Hold external relationships, including those with Banks, investors, HMRC and professional support services
Problem solve in relation to areas of financial control, tax and treasury including bringing new ideas to management as part of monthly meetings and review processes
Standardise processes and where applicable implement new processes
Lead on the capex process from a statutory view
Review systems and software, looking at and implementing improvements as and when required which may impact our financial control environment
Manage and lead on investments and cash flow management
Work collaboratively with Head of Finance Business Partnering and Head of Operations and Reporting including but not limited to financial forecasts and impact on financial year outturn.
Day to day managerial responsibilities for the financial accounting, balance sheet controls, tax and treasury management
Liaise with external auditors and provide support to the Group Statutory accountant
Required: Has a full accountancy qualification, CIPFA, CIMA, ICAEW or equivalent.
