  • About This Opportunity

    A rare opportunity has been created to join UQ's Finance and Business Services Division. As the Finance Manager, partnering with our centralised support services, you will be accountable for the delivery of end-to-end finance solutions, services, and advice by your Professional Services team to support the achievement of client business and service delivery objectives.

    Reporting to the Director, Financial Client Partnering and working under general direction, this role partners with clients to develop and maintain a deep understanding of their current and future finance needs and provides fiscal leadership to ensure the alignment of financial management and reporting strategies.

    Key responsibilities will include:

  • Provides fiscal leadership to client business units through the development of robust strategies, client service plans, policies, plans and operational budgets that drive fiscal accountability, transparency and financial performance for the client portfolio.

  • Leads and reviews financial analysis and modelling and the preparation of business cases to support the selection, validation and prioritisation of client portfolio business strategies and plans.

  • Oversees the application of effective financial processes, controls, protocols and risk management frameworks, which are fully compliant with University and external requirements and provide relevant assurances.

  • Contributes to the development of the University Finance strategy, policy and planning, ensuring the emerging and current needs of the client portfolio are factored into University wide strategic projects and service delivery plans.

  • Leads the implementation of strategic reviews and continuous improvement strategies and initiatives within the client portfolio, and more widely across the University as required, thus embedding client service delivery excellence; consistency of practice; and a culture of continuous improvement.

    About You

  • Postgraduate qualifications in accounting, business, commerce or a related field with extensive experience in accounting, management and/or equivalent combination of relevant extensive management and professional experience.

  • Excellent financial management, accounting and analysis skills with a demonstrated understanding of continuous improvement strategies and practices.

  • Ability to negotiate and build productive client relationships with diverse stakeholders and apply structured problem solving techniques and influencing skills to achieve key outcomes.

  • Ability to develop and provide proactive strategic advice and solutions, and partner with clients to achieve desired outcomes and results.

  • Experience working in professional financial advisory and/or service delivery functions in complex policy and stakeholder environments.

  • Membership of a professional institution (CPA / CA or equivalent) or progress towards eligibility for membership.

  • What We Can Offer

    This is a full-time, fixed-term position for 5 years. As a senior position of the university, the remuneration will be negotiated with the successful candidate.
