The department is looking for an experienced, well-organised Finance Manager to lead the busy finance service at the Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences (NDCN) while the current post holder is on leave. The NDCN is one of the world's leading centres for research and treatment in disorders of the nervous system.

In this role you will be responsible for the delivery of a comprehensive, high quality service to the department, wider University and to external organisations. With substantial financial management and administration experience you will ensure that the department maintains robust financial processes and controls, produces accurate financial data and timely financial information for financial management and reporting. You will balance the needs of financial management and reporting with ensuring the department's financial processes are sound and retain their high standard. You will play a part in the overall management of the department's operations and contribute to the development of strategy, policies and procedures and be instrumental in developing a working relationship with the Oxford University Hospitals' NHS Foundation Trust. You will be responsible for managing and developing a team of 4-5 people at varying stages of their career. You will have the ability to mentor and nurture a new team promoting the delivery of a professional, quality finance service. You will also have strong leadership, management, organisational, analytical and interpersonal skills to ensure workloads are managed and prioritised so that deadlines are met.

The successful candidate will be educated to a degree level, or have an equivalent combination of training and experience, ideally in business or finance, and have, or be working towards, a recognised professional accountancy qualification such as ACA, CIMA, ACCA, CIPFA. You must also have experience of managing a team to effectively process a high volume of complex transactions. Understanding or experience of the University's Oracle financial system or similar systems is a desirable.

The post is full time for a fixed term up to 12 months in the first instance.
