Job Description

GENERAL STATEMENT OF FUNCTION: The PC Technician will report to the User Services Manager and will be responsible for the installation, maintenance and repair of institutional technology. The Field Technician will report to the User Services Manager and will be responsible for the installation, maintenance and repair of all technology on the campus assigned.

Job Duties

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Specific Duties will include but are not limited to the following:

1. Setup, troubleshoot, and maintain all aspects of end-user technology, including but not limited to computers, printers, peripherals, and mobile devices. 2. Assist employees with the effective use of technology to enable them to perform their jobs. 3. Document all completed work in the college's IT Service Management System. 4. Provide Weekly Status Reports to the User Services Manager. 5. Provide technical assistance and support for incoming work orders related to computer systems, software, and hardware. 6. Accurately record, update and document all work orders. 7. Maintain daily performance and operation of college computer systems, through the installation, modification, and repair of computer hardware and software. 8. Provide layer one support for network connectivity. 9. Work with other departments within IT to assist with quick resolution of end user issues. 10. Run diagnostic programs to resolve problems. 11. Install computer peripherals including, but not limited to, printers, scanners, wired and wireless devices. 12. Work with vendor support contacts to resolve technical problems with computer systems and software. 13. Maintain a high level of customer service ensuring that all customers are treated professionally. 14. Maintain excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical colleagues at all levels in the organization. 15. Maintain monitoring software for lab/student use systems. 16. Report any add, move, or change of computer systems asset number location to immediate supervisor. 17. Complete required institutional education and training, including department specific requirements. 18. Such other duties as may be assigned by appropriate personnel.

Mandatory Qualifications

(M1) Minimum of an Associate Degree in a technical field, or 5 years experience working in a computer repair related environment. (M2) CompTIA A+ certification or equivalent. (M3) Experience working with Windows and macOS Operating Systems. (M4) Experience working with Microsoft Office Productivity Suite. (M5) Willingness to travel to multiple campuses. (M6) Excellent oral and written communication skills in both technical and non-technical environments. (M7) Physically able to complete minimal tasks related to the position, including lifting 50 lbs., climbing stairs and ladders. (M8) Must have a valid driver's license.

Desirable Qualifications

(D1) A+ Certification, Network+ Certification, Microsoft Certifications, and Cisco CCNA and Cisco VoIP experience. (D2) Experience with Apple Mac OS X as it applies to all Apple hardware platforms including iOS devices. (D3) Software, hardware and network troubleshooting and problem resolution experience. (D4) Working knowledge of networking protocols and services such as TCP/IP, DHCP, and DNS. (D5) Working knowledge of Ethernet cabling standards and termination.
