  • NOTICE OF THE OPENNING OF AN INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION FOR RECRUITMENT ONE POST-DOC RESEARCHER

    Ana Cristina Freire, Full Professor and Dean of the Faculty of Sciences of Oporto University, advertises the opening for 10 working days of an international competition for recruitment on ONE PhD researcher, within the Project- Magsense - POCI-01-0247-FEDER-033783, co-financed by FEDER through the Program POCI.

    Admission requirements: any nationals, foreigners and stateless people who meet the following condition can submit application: hold a PhD degree in the above-mentioned scientific area.

    If the candidate holds a doctorate awarded by a foreign higher education institution, it must comply with the provisions established in the Decree-Law no. 66/2018. All the formalities established in the Decree-Law must be met until the hiring.

    Other preferential requirements: Preference will be given to candidates with experience in magnetostrictive materials, knowledge of magnetic and structural characterisation, materials preparation by arc discharge, screen printing techniques, thin film deposition techniques, optical lithography

    Job description:

    The objective of this project is to design, implement and prototype a magnetostrictive sensor with ability to measure thickness and defects.

    For this, the main functions to be performed by the candidate will be:

    - Production of magnetostrictive micro and nanomaterials;

    - Preparation of high performance printable inks for screen printing (conductive coils and magnetostrictive materials;

    -Deposition of thin films of magnetostrictive materials;

    -photolithography;

    - Characterization of manufactured materials using physical, optical and chemical characterization techniques.

    - Teaching Service in the Department of Physics and Astronomy of the Faculty of Science of Porto. (Up to four semantic teaching hours, on an annual average according to Article 12, paragraph 3 of Regulation No. 487/2020 of the Research, Science and Technology Staff of the University of Porto).

    Legal Framework:

    Decree-Law Nº, 57/2016 of 29th August, amended by Law no. 57/2017 of 19th July, establishing the Regulation of Scientific Employment (Regime Jurídico do Emprego Científico - RJEC) ; Regulatory Law no. 11-A/2017 of 29th December; the Labour Code in the current version of Law no. 7/2009 of 12th February.

    The place of work: The tasks will be developed in the Department of Physics, Research unit IFIMUP.

    Duration of contract: The present work contract is due to start on september of 2021 and will be maintained only for the period due to accomplish the tasks of the job description, under an exclusive dedication regime.

    Remuneration: : € 2,134.73 in accordance with paragraph a) of paragraph 1 of article 15 of Law No. 57/2017, of 19 July and with the first remuneration position of the initial level provided for in article 2 of the Regulatory Decree n. 11-A / 2017, of 29 December, corresponding to level 33 of the single remuneration table updated by DL 10-B / 2020.

    Methods of selection and definition of their weights/evolution criteria:

    According to Article 5 of the RJEC, selection will be based on the evaluation of the candidate's scientific and academic career.

    The evaluation of the scientific and curricular path, taking into account the profile appropriate to the activity to be developed, focuses on relevance, quality and current impact of:

    a) the scientific and technological production of the last five years considered to be more relevant by the applicant;

    b) the applied or practice-based research activities developed over the last five years and considered as having the greatest impact by the candidate;

    c) the activities of extension and dissemination of knowledge developed during the last five years, in particular in the context of culture and scientific practices promotion that are considered by the candidate to be of greater relevance;

    d) the activities of management of science, technology and innovation programs, or the experience in observing and monitoring the scientific and technological system or higher education, in Portugal or abroad.

    The period of five years referred to in the preceding paragraph may be increased by the jury, at the request of the candidate, when justified on grounds of suspension of scientific activity for socially protected reasons, namely on grounds of parental leave, prolonged serious illness, and other situations of unavailability for work legally protected.

    Grading system:

    The selection process will be done through the evaluation of the scientific and curricular path of the candidates (ESCP), focusing on the relevance, quality, state-of-the-art and suitability of this path to the tasks to be performed. In particular, it will be taken into account the most relevant activities of the last five years that fall under the scope of this project, according to the following specific criteria:

    F1: Quality of the CV - Weight: 40%

    F2: Suitability to the required profile - Weight: 40%

    F3: Experience in nanomaterials fabrication techniques and its physical and chemical characterization - Weight: 20%

    ESCP = F10.4+F20.4+F30.2

    The grading system will produce a result on a 0 to 100 scale, based on the basis of the above-mentioned criteria and weights.

    The Selection Committee shall deliberate by means of a nominal vote based on the selection criteria adopted and published, and abstentions are not allowed.

    Minutes of the meetings of the jury are drawn up, containing a summary of what has taken place in the meetings, as well as the votes cast by each of the members and their reasons; these minutes should be available to candidates whenever requested.

    After completing the application of the selection criteria, the jury will draw up an ordered list of successful candidates with their classification.

    Depending on Selection Committee's appraisal, an interview can take place. In that case, the final candidate's grade will have the following weights: 90% of the previous result, combined with 10% of the interview's grade.

    The final decision of the jury is approved by the maximum leader of the institution that also has to decide on the hiring.

    Lists of admitted and excluded candidates, as well as the final ranking lists, will be published and advertised on the webpage of this call at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto, and all candidates will be notified by under the terms of the Code of Administrative Procedure.
