NOTICE OF THE OPENNING OF AN INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION FOR RECRUITMENT ONE POST-DOC RESEARCHER
Ana Cristina Moreira Freire, Full Professor and Dean of the Faculty of Sciences of Oporto University, advertises the opening for 10 working days of an international competition for recruitment on ONE PhD researcher, within the project UIDP/00081/2020 funded by FCT – “financiamento Plurianual da Unidade de I&D CIQUP - Centro de Investigação em Química da Universidade do Porto.”

Admission requirements: Application can be submitted by any nationals, foreigners and stateless people who hold a PhD degree in the above-mentioned scientific area or similar, having work developed on Analytical Chemistry.
If the candidate holds a doctorate awarded by a foreign higher education institution, it must comply with the provisions established in the Decree-Law no. 66/2018. All the formalities established in the Decree-Law must be met until the hiring.
Failure to comply with these requirements determines the preliminary rejection of the application.
The candidate will work on the management and execution of tasks related with the application of multivariate data analysis (chemometrics) to spectroscopic data obtained from environmental samples.
Teaching service in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry of the Faculty of Science of Porto may be assigned. (Up to four teaching hours per week, on an annual average according to Article 12, paragraph 3 of Regulation No. 487/2020 of Research, Science and Technology Staff at the University of Porto).

The place of work: The tasks will be developed in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, Centro de Investigação em Química- University of Porto.
Duration of contract: The present work contract is due to start on January of 2023 and will be maintained only for the period due to accomplish the tasks of the job description until the end of the project, under an exclusive dedication regime.
Remuneration: 2.414,50 € in accordance with paragraph a) of paragraph 1 of article 15 of Law No. 57/2017, of 19 July and with the second remuneration position of the initial level provided for in article 2 of the Regulatory Decree n. 11-A / 2017, of 29 December, corresponding to level 38 of the single remuneration table updated by DL 10-B / 2020.
Methods of selection and definition of their weights/evolution criteria:
According to Article 5 of the RJEC, selection will be based on the evaluation (ESCP) of the last five years (2018-2022) of the candidates' scientific and academic career.
The ESCP will focus on the following criteria and weights:
1. (EXP 1) Effective experience in general Analytical Chemistry (20%);
2. (EXP 2) Effective experience on the specific topic of chemometrics applied to spectroscopic data. (40%);
3. (AC) Adequacy of the candidate's curricula to the plan of work proposed. (20%);
4. (PC) Scientific publications (20%).
The Selection Committee shall deliberate by means of a nominal vote based on the selection criteria adopted and published, and abstentions are not allowed.
Minutes of the meetings of the jury, including a evaluation report of the jury, will be available to candidates whenever requested.
After completing the application of the selection criteria, the jury will draw up an ordered list of successful candidates with their classification.
ESCP= EXP1 x 0,20 + EXP2 x 0,40 + AC x 0,20 + PC x 0,20
The evaluation process may include an interview (E) by a part of the candidates to be selected by the jury.
In the case of an interview, the formula for the final classification will be as follows:
CF= ESCP 90%+E10%
The final evaluation of the jury will be approved by the director of the institution, who also takes the decision on hiring.

Lists of admitted and excluded candidates, as well as the final ranking lists, will be published and advertised on the webpage of this call at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto, and all candidates will be notified by under the terms of the Code of Administrative Procedure.

All candidates who submit their applications in an improper manner or fail to fulfil the requirements established in this call are excluded from admission.
In case of doubt, the Selection Committee is entitled to request any candidate present further documentation to support their statements.
False statements provided by candidates are punishable by law.
Candidates who incorrectly formalize their candidacy are excluded from admission to the competition.
