The Center for PreCollege Programs (CPP) administers pre-college and career readiness pipeline programs designed to educate, inspire, and prepare students to be future-focused and 21st-century ready. CPP serves more than 2,000 students and parents annually through the facilitation of a variety of programs. The Center for PreCollege Programs houses our three TRIO programs of Talent Search (2) and Upward Bound, the Abbott Leadership Institute, Youth Media Symposium, Dual Enrollment, University-Assisted Partnerships, a College Success Center, the Tutoring Spot, and the Rutgers Future Scholars Program, in addition to other special interest programs

Posting Summary

Rutgers University- Newark (RU-N), an urban public research university and anchor institution, located in Newark, New Jersey, a city of promise is seeking a FAFSA Specialist. The Center for PreCollege Programs administers precollege and pipeline programs designed to educate, inspire and prepare students to be successful in secondary and post-secondary education while promoting a college-going culture.

This position is responsible for and not limited to the following:

  • Advise and counsel about available financial aid opportunities and eligibility requirements
  • Assist students before, during, and after the financial aid process
  • Guide students about the application process
  • Meet and assist students and parents with the accurate completion of the application
  • Follow established federal guidelines regarding eligibility, to reconcile, complete, and award student files.
  • Review student files and transcripts ensuring accuracy and eligibility standards are upheld
  • Stay abreast of available aid opportunities, grants, or awards available for students
  • Learn, update and apply aid process, requirements, and all related necessities
  • Understand and apply university processes and guidelines for aid/awards/grants
  • Collect, maintain, and update data as appropriate for compliance with university systems and requirements
  • Additional duties or special projects may be assigned
  • This position is contingent upon the continuation of grant funding.

    Position Status Part Time Hours Per Week Up to 19.5 Daily Work Shift Day Work Arrangement

    This position requires a fully on-site work arrangement.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Education and Experience

    •Requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. •Requires up to two years relevant experience in an administrative function, good communication and interpersonal skills, and computer literacy.

    Immunization Requirements

    Under Policy 60.1.35 Immunization Policy for Rutgers Employees and Prospective Employees, Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption. Employees who are not eligible for a booster at the time of an offer of employment must provide proof they have received a booster upon eligibility and upload proof of same. Under Policy 100.3.1 Immunization Policy for Covered Individuals, if employment will commence during Flu Season, Rutgers University may require certain prospective employees to provide proof that they are vaccinated against Seasonal Influenza for the current Flu Season, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption.
