Full-time art studio faculty member within the Department of Art & Design to teach foundational courses that may include, but are not limited to, drawing, two-dimensional

design, three-dimensional design, and lens-based and/or digital

studio courses. Faculty with knowledge of ceramics, printmaking, or other specialized disciplines are welcome. Faculty may have the opportunity to teach courses in their area of expertise in addition to basic foundation courses.

This position is intended for primarily traditional, seated courses. On-campus presence is expected of all full-time faculty.

Full-time faculty will be part of a dynamic department that is involved in many initiatives beyond the studio classroom. Full-time faculty are required to support advising as Faculty Mentors, to hold office hours, to assist with student exhibitions and departmental activities, and to engage in any other duty as assigned. Faculty should be aware of and embrace the community college mission.

Faculty member may be required to teach courses on any RCCC campus or in various modalities upon the discretion of the Chair.

Faculty member will also be expected to facilitate promoting safety throughout the department, in developing/improving curriculum, SLOs, assessment tools, and other duties as assigned by the Program Chair and/or Director.

Faculty member will be expected to fully support departmental initiatives such as NASAD accreditation, grants, etc. These events and initiatives often occur in the evenings and/or on the weekends, and all full-time faculty are required to participate.

All faculty in the Department of Art & Design are expected to be supportive of the ambitious AFA in Visual Arts transfer degree, which is rooted in equity and compassion, and to promote transfer and university campus visits for students. The Department of Art & Design Arts is deeply engaged with the community, all faculty are expected to support our community partners.

Applicants must be familiar with and supportive of the community college mission and environment, the AFA degree, and foundation-level students.

Staff Required Education/Experience: Faculty Required Education/Experience Skills:

One of the following degrees is required (degree must be earned by January 1, 2022):

MFA in a visual art discipline MA in a visual art discipline

Desired Education/Experience/Skills:

Active exhibition record Knowledge of AFA curriculum Familiarity with community college

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

-Desire to work in a thriving department -Knowledge of the AFA degree program and its relationship to BAFA/BFA programs -Desire to develop courses, new teaching methods, and otherwise contribute to the department -Applicant should be quality-driven, enthusiastic, and eager to be part of a team -Applicant must be willing to work during evenings and/or on weekends -Desire to become an active member of the broader arts and cultural community of Rowan and Cabarrus Counties

Department: Lib Arts - Fine Arts Work Hours:

Faculty are required to teach 18-20 contact hours each semester (fall and spring).

Faculty are 9-month employees and are not required to teach over the summer.

Courses may be offered during the day/evening/weekend hours as determined by the Chair. Courses may be taught on any RCCC campus.

Faculty must hold either 5 office hours OR 5 open studio hours each week as well as 5 hours per week of other college-related duties and/or on-campus hours.

Full-time faculty in the Department of Art & Design are required to work events such as student exhibitions, guest lectures, arts festivals, etc. that often occur during weekend or non-traditional working hours. Full participation in these events is required.

Faculty will perform other duties as assigned by Program Chair or Director.

5. Utilize College technology for the delivery of instruction and completion of operational processes; this includes but is not limited to the College's learning management system, email and calendaring solution, document management system(s), student information system, and employee portals.

6. Meet deadlines, including maintaining and submitting accurate class records, employee records/requests, and other assigned tasks.

7. When applicable, ensure laboratories are appropriately stocked with required supplies and equipment is in safe operating order.

8. Support student mentoring, advising, registration and recruitment efforts, as appropriate or required.
