Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
The Faculty Specialist will be required to assist Principal Investigator with
the successful execution of an extramurally-funded research program in the
laboratory. The specific responsibilities include design, execute and analyze
experiments aimed at research involving vector-borne infections including Lyme
disease as well as small molecule screens. Additional and general job
responsibilities include presentation of scientific data, preparation of
manuscripts as well as routine assistance with maintenance of laboratory
animals, instruments, and inventories.
The successful candidates will have a strong background of research in
Biological Science, host-pathogen interaction, and Drug discovery
Research experience in infectious diseases and drug discovery. Highly
motivated and creative scientists with a good publication record and strong
research interests. Previous working experience in host-pathogen interaction,
animal and cell culture models of infectious agents. Experience in writing
scientific papers and preparation of grants and standard lab operating
procedures in a biomedical research laboratory.
