The department welcomes applications from individuals who may have nontraditional career path or who have achieved excellence in careers outside of academia.

UT Southwestern Medical Center is the awardee of the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) Clinical Trials Network (CTN) Big South/West Node (BS/WN) cooperative agreement, which it first received in 2005. The goal of the CTN is for researchers and treatment providers to work together toward new treatment options in community-level clinical practice. The BS/WN is one of 16 Nodes across the United States. Currently the BS/WN is leading 5 multi-site studies in various stages of development (in over 20 study sites across the country), developing one single site study, participating in two other studies with study sites in Dallas and Little Rock, and completing a study using a computer program to assist in decision-making for measurement-based care in opioid use disorder. These BS/WN studies utilize existing medications and novel treatments (e.g., rTMS) for people who have moderate to severe cocaine and methamphetamine use disorder, and investigate ways to make starting opioid treatment more feasible.

Candidates who bring innovative approaches to the study of any under- explored/unexplored questions broadly related to substance use disorders are encouraged to apply. The department offers exceptional start-up packages and an intellectually engaging community with a demonstrated track record of supporting and mentoring junior faculty. Candidates will be expected to work within the multidisciplinary team to further the research priorities of the Center for Depression Research and Clinical Care, including study oversight, grant development, and data interpretation and manuscript preparation. Recruits will have unparalleled access to state-of-the-art core facilities and infrastructure. Successful candidates will have an outstanding postdoctoral record and the potential to develop a vigorous research program. Appointment rank will be commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience. Please apply online and upload a Curriculum Vitae, research plan (3-page limit) or a cover letter, and three letters of recommendation.
