Job Summary
The successful candidate will teach and advise in the School of Education's
undergraduate program and will coordinate field experience placements and
professional development for elementary and secondary education majors. The
candidate will be under the supervision of the Chair of Curriculum and
Instruction, in the School of Education on the Hattiesburg Campus. The
position is a full-time (12 month) Assistant Professor and Field Experience
Coordinator position.

Duties and Responsibilities
All duties and responsibilities listed below should be performed in an
effective and efficient manner.
MISSION – Assist the university in implementation of its mission
statement and goals.
ACCREDITATION – Assist the university and School of Education
department in maintaining compliance with SACSCOC and CAEP standards.
ANNUAL PROCESS REVIEW – Assist the School of Education department in
the Annual Review with the Mississippi Department of Education, to include
the Bi-annual Student Teacher Report.
ADVISEMENT – Advise students and prospective students
UNIVERSITY EVENTS – Attend scheduled university events when
participation is required.
STUDENT RECRUITMENT – Assist the SOE department and university in
recruiting students.
FACULTY MEMBER – Carry out the responsibilities of a full-time faculty
member.
Teach undergraduate and graduate courses certified to teach
Supervise students in field experience placements and Residencies
Perform minimum of 15 office hours a week
Field Experience Coordinator
Responsible for planning the Residency I & II Seminars
Oversee syllabus and canvas for Res I & II
Co-chair annual Residency Conference with the Chair
Responsible for making field experience placements for Hattiesburg campus
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES – Perform any other responsibilities as
requested by the Dean or Chair.
Required Qualifications
Hold an earned doctorate in Reading Education, Elementary Education, or
related field
Minimum of three years of professional teaching experience on the
elementary level or experience teaching elementary education or literacy
courses at the university level
Hold a current teacher education license
Physical Demands
Must possess the physical ability to actively facilitate student learning
in the classroom for extended period of times
Must have vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing
and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone
Must have the ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
Must have the strength and agility to move files, boxes, and minor
equipment
Salary and Rank: Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications
and experience.
