Position Title Faculty - Non Tenure Track, Lecturer - Applied Communication

Position Category Faculty - Non Tenure Track (FT) Summary

Applied Communication is seeking a non tenure track lecturer. A successful candidate teaches students to understand and appreciate the Communication discipline through student-centered engagement. The candidate will teach a variety of applied communication courses including public speaking, introduction to communication, interpersonal, health communication, small group, and organizational communication. The individual shall instruct course in-class, online, and through hybrid methods of delivery. Expected workload is 5 courses per semester.

Required Qualifications

An earned Master's degree in Communication or a related field from an accredited institution required. Must be able to teach all modalities (in- person in Orem, Utah, hybrid, online).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge required to teach public speaking, interpersonal, health communication, small group, organizational communication or other COMM classes. Knowledge of teaching hybrid and online (asynchronous and synchronous). Must be able to teach all modalities (in-person in Orem, Utah, hybrid, online).

Excellence in teaching as demonstrated through effective instructional strategies and techniques in the classroom. Excellence in teaching large lecture classes.

Preferred Qualifications

Evidence of online course design and teaching.

Evidence of large lecture course design and teaching.

Ability to articulate a diverse/multicultural perspective preferred.

Teaching strengths should complement current departmental curriculum.

Physical Requirements

May be required to teach online, blended, distance education, off-campus or evening courses.

Requires standing, sitting, and speaking.
