Founded in 1913, Northwest Nazarene University is a comprehensive Christian university with 80 undergraduate areas of study, 18 master's degrees in six different disciplines, five Education Specialists degrees and two doctoral degrees. NNU has more than 2,000 undergraduate and graduate students, 6,000 continuing education students, and more than 10,000 high school students who participate in the University's concurrent credit program. NNU is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU), a regional accrediting body recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).

College of Theology and Christian Ministries The College of Theology and Christian Ministries at Northwest Nazarene University has a respected tradition of service to the institution, the denomination, and the communities of southwest Idaho. The College consists of the undergraduate Department of Philosophy and Religion (which services the general education program of the University and offers several academic majors: Biblical Studies, Christian Ministry, Intercultural Ministry, Philosophy, Philosophy and Religion, Religious Studies, Worship Arts, and Youth Ministry) and the Graduate School of Theology (which offers fully online Master of Divinity and Master of Arts degrees in Missional Leadership; Pastoral Ministry; Spiritual Formation; and Youth, Children, and Family Ministry). The College presently consists of ten full-time faculty members who are actively engaged in both academic conversations and church ministry.

Description of Position The College of Theology and Christian Ministries of Northwest Nazarene University is seeking applicants for a full-time, tenure-track faculty member in Biblical Studies (rank and specialty open) to begin in the Fall of 2022. This position will include teaching courses in Biblical Studies--both general education courses in Biblical Studies and online master's courses in Biblical Studies as well as more specialized courses according to the candidate's expertise. The position demands someone committed to mentoring and effective academic advising, and all faculty have important governance responsibilities within the College and the broader University.

Qualifications Applicants are preferred to possess a completed Ph.D. in a discipline within the field of Biblical Studies (although ABD will be considered). Strong candidates will have a proven track record in teaching undergraduate and graduate students, understand teaching ministry as a Christian vocation, and demonstrate active engagement and contribution to biblical and theological scholarship through publication and academic service. Strong candidates will also value teaching and mentoring a variety of students as well as the place of theological scholarship. Candidates need to be ordained ministers or pursing ordination in the Church of the Nazarene. The University and College require that all candidates be willing to help advance the mission and vision of the University, and be an active participant in the Church of the Nazarene.

Compensation Salary will be determined by the educational background and experience of the candidate.
