THE ROLE

As Faculty Executive Director, you will work in collaboration with the Executive Dean and other executive group colleagues, to accelerate the Business School's growth and success.

Working as a key member of the Faculty Executive Team, you will lead the professional staff operations of an innovative faculty, and as a key member of the School's Executive, you will collaborate on a diverse array of strategic initiatives across academic and non-academic portfolios. You will provide expert advice to the Executive Dean and other key stakeholders on the financial operation of the Faculty, resource planning and management, risk management, infrastructure and facilities, policy development and higher education market trends. You will also be expected to lead the connection to the VP portfolios of the University, in particular across recruitment, marketing, finance, HR, student and research and operations for Macquarie Business School.

Reporting directly to the Executive Dean, we offer you the opportunity to bring your outstanding commercial and leadership skills to enable the Faculty and its staff to realise their full potential and deliver excellence across the full portfolio of professional and academic activity. Demonstrating an ability to participate in Faculty and whole-of-University decision making, dynamic candidates will possess transferable experience from driving complex strategic and operational contexts, plus the professional credibility to execute the sophisticated demands of the role. Outstanding communication skills are essential as are the abilities to influence, think creatively and exercise effective judgement in a dynamic environment.

The Faculty

Macquarie Business School is the home to a significant share of business undergraduates across NSW. It is also ranked as one of the best business schools in Australia in terms of student experience, course rankings, employment outcomes, and research rankings. Our most recent strategic planning cycle has seen the School renew its commitment to excellence and innovation, pushing the boundaries of research and external engagement to new levels, while also revamping our major undergraduate and postgraduate generalist courses. The School's Master of Marketing is ranked number 1 in Australia in the QS Business Masters Ranking 2024, and the Masters of Applied Finance, Business Analytics and Management are each ranked number 1 in Sydney. And just as importantly, our undergraduate students rate their experience higher than our competitors in overall experience as well as teaching practices, skills development and facilities and resources. We are also rapidly rising in our research rankings, jumping 100-200 places in the last 5 years in the Shanghai Ranking across multiple areas, and doubling our research income in 3 years.

We foster a values-based culture of innovation and creativity to achieve excellence in teaching and to enhance the research performance of the University. We invest in developing the careers and wellbeing of our students and staff and expect all our leaders to live our values of scholarship, integrity and empowerment.
