The Department of Surgery, Division of Transplantation and Hepatobiliary
Surgery and the University of Iowa Health Care Organ Transplant Center are
seeking candidates for a faculty position in Abdominal Solid Organ
Transplantation and Hepatobiliary Surgery to join our multi-organ transplant
team. The appointment will be at the Assistant Professor level in either the
tenure or clinical track depending on research experience and funding
Applicants must be a graduate of an approved medical college, have completed
training in all phases of General Surgery, and possess transplant training
from an ASTS-approved fellowship program in solid organ transplantation,
including training in liver, kidney, and kidney-pancreas transplantation as
well as laparoscopic donor nephrectomy.
Applicants for the tenure track must have established experience in research
at a level which enables procurement of outside funding. The ideal applicant
should demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills, be
committed to ongoing performance improvement and to providing care as a member
of a multidisciplinary team. Applicants must also have demonstrated experience
working effectively in a diverse environment.
Applicants must also possess board eligibility/certification in Surgery from
the American Board of Surgery.
Training or currency in live donor liver and pediatric liver transplantation
are desirable skills.
