At DMU you will make a meaningful contribution to the dynamic future of Medicine and Health Sciences. DMU is seeking a, psychiatrist who is responsible for developing and maintaining a clinical practice within the Des Moines University Clinic. Position will include direct patient care, physician assistant supervision, supporting the educational priorities of the department and University, and participating in the academic mission of the department. The position reports to the Chair of the Department of Behavioral Medicine, Medical Humanities & Bioethics.

What you'll do:

  • Actively participate in the delivery of patient care within the Des Moines University Clinic. Patient care includes the full spectrum of office based psychiatric practice with no call.
  • Supervise clinical experience of students and provide clinical education and instruction, including completion of evaluations of students' competencies and Entrustable Professional Activities (EPAs) as determined by course curricula.
  • Supervise clinical experience and practice of residents and provide clinical education and instruction, including completion of evaluations of residents' clinical skills and knowledge, as well as other educational competencies and EPAs.
  • Participate in the planning, implementation, and assessment of learning for educational opportunities provided by the department
  • What we're looking for:

  • D.O. degree from a COCA accredited college of osteopathic medicine or M.D. degree from LCME accredited school of allopathic medicine. Board-certified in Psychiatry.
  • If board eligible, must obtain certification within one year of employment.
  • The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 3 years of clinical experience.
  • Must possess a license to practice in the State of Iowa, or be eligible to gain a license to practice in the State of Iowa.
