The Centre for Advanced Imaging
The Centre for Advanced Imaging is a major research Centre within The
University of Queensland, and is the largest research facility of its type in
Australia. CAI's collaborative research programs cross interdisciplinary
boundaries in addressing questions of fundamental and applied bioscience
through innovative application of leading edge imaging technology and
methodology. CAI strives to facilitate new discovery through the provision of
world class instrumentation and expertise in imaging.
CAI manages major imaging instrumentation collectively valued at over $35
million including human MRI scanners, high-field micro imaging systems,
MRI/PET and PET/CT, EPR spectrometers, and high field solution and solids NMR
facilities. A new CAI building completed in 2012 houses Australia's first
ultra-high-field 7T MRI and MRI-PET scanners, new cyclotron and radiochemistry
facilities and a range of other laboratories and offices.

About This Opportunity
We are currently searching for a Facility Scientist – Image Processing and
Analysis to join our St Lucia team. The primary responsibility of this role
will be to support users of The Centre for Advanced Imaging in image analysis
including MRI, PET and CT. There is also opportunity for teaching, research
and PhD supervision as a component of the role.
This position is located at our picturesque St Lucia campus, renowned as one
of Australia's most attractive university campuses, and located just 7km from
Brisbane's city centre. Bounded by the Brisbane River on three sides, and with
outstanding public transport connections, our 114-hectare site provides a

Our Ideal Candidate
The successful applicant will possess significant experience in magnetic
resonance imaging and image reconstruction, processing and analysis. You will
have a high level of proficiency in scientific computer programming, commonly
used image analysis platforms, MATLAB and Linux. You will also have highly
refined communication and interpersonal skills. Our ideal candidate will
possess a PhD relevant to magnetic resonance imaging, or have submitted their
PhD and awaiting outcome, in Biomedical Engineering, Applied Mathematics or

What We Can Offer
This is a full-time, 9 month, fixed term position at Academic Research Level A
or B. There is a possibility for extension as required in line with
requirements of the Centre for Advanced Imaging.
Academic Research Level A: The full-time equivalent base salary will be in
the range $70,729 - $94,637, plus super of up to 17%. The total FTE package
will be in the range $82,753 - $110,726.
Academic Research Level B: The full-time equivalent base salary will be in
the range $99,542 - $118,206, plus super of up to 17%. The total FTE package
will be in the range $116,465 - $138,301.
