The Operations Coordinator oversees the routine tasks related to venue conversions and event setups, including building stages, setting tables/chairs and installing/removing portable basketball courts, in multi-purpose public assembly venues. They provide direct supervision and lead operations crews in efficient venue conversions, and provide general maintenance and care of facility equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervises and assists facility crew members in venue conversions, to include erecting stages, setting pipe and drape, installing portable basketball court, arranging tables and chairs, light cleaning and other related tasks.
  • Maintains wood courts utilizing floor scrubber.
  • Performs small event setups, as needed.
  • Monitors work being done to ensure appropriate safety measures and procedures are being followed.
  • Organizes details and determines appropriate work methods for operations crew to ensure efficient venue conversions.
  • Provides on the job training for new facility crew personnel in appropriate procedures for setting and breaking down equipment.
  • Maintains venue equipment (tables, chairs, staging, drape) and equipment storage rooms.
  • Performs other duties assigned.
  • May be exposed to loud noises during events.

    Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two (2) years of experience performing the set up of furniture, staging and equipment in a public use facility.
  • Operation of equipment and processes used in setting up and cleaning basketball and volleyball goals, scorers' tables, press boxes, and portable courts.
  • Operate forklift, aerial lift and floor scrubber.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to assess crew performance, motivate team members for efficiency and evaluate for safety standards.
  • General understanding of workplace safety requirements, fire safety and ADA requirements, as they related to public assembly venues.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with other venue staff and venue clients.
  • Ability to complete all physical tasks as needed.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Over three years' experience in a public use facility.
  • Three (3) or more years of experience in proper setup, breakdown and storage of portable basketball/volleyball court, portable staging, tables and chairs.
  • Three or more years of experience supervising setup crews in a public assembly facility.
