The Department educates and conducts research and extension projects related to physiology, biotechnology, microbiology, immunology, nutrition, toxicology, animal well-being, and management with the ultimate goal of improving the production and wholesomeness of poultry as a food product.
Essential Job Duties
The extension component of this position will support county Ag agents and Area Specialized Poultry Agents with extension backyard flock programs and the commercial poultry industry. This faculty will play a significant role in providing health, disease, and biosecurity training to backyard flock owners to mitigate the potential contamination of neighboring flocks. CALS has partnered with the College of Veterinary Medicine to lead this transformative initiative, and as it grows, we will enlist the support of our partners at NC State, other land grant universities, government, and industry.
Depending on qualifications and experience, the faculty member will be expected to conduct and/or collaborate on applied and/or basic research into factors impacting animal health, performance, and wellbeing.
