We are seeking to appoint an organised and informed individual to support the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Research) in developing and implementing the University's Research Strategy for 2021-26.

As well as managing complex university-wide projects, you will provide policy and information analysis, advice and other executive-level support including:

  • research and analysis;
  • report and paper writing;
  • organising meetings and preparation of briefing materials;
  • monitoring and responding to emerging developments of relevance to higher education
  • communicating the outcomes of work to the University through formal and informal routes.
  • Specific responsibilities will include:

  • monitoring national and international trends in relation to higher education policy, funding and practice
  • undertaking research and analysis in order to produce draft papers and recommendations in relation to strategic activities
  • reading and reviewing consultation documents and policy statements issued by key external stakeholders (eg, Government, HEFCE/OfS, RCUK, UUK, UCAS), and preparing written summaries and draft responses
  • undertaking analysis of university-wide research operations, benchmarking across the sector and other relevant sectors as required, advising on process/policy change and improvement where appropriate
  • preparing policy documents, briefing/presentation materials and papers for the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Research).
  • This is a critical, demanding and varied role in a fast-paced environment that will suit someone with experience of successful project management and a sound knowledge of issues relating to UK Higher Education, particularly those relating to research policies and the funding environment.

    Highly numerate and able to analyse data and processes, you will also have excellent written and verbal communication skills, be able to work to strict deadlines, contribute to strategic direction and demonstrate a commitment to team and self-development.
