The Kelley School of Business, Indiana University-Bloomington invites applications for the Executive Director of the Indiana Business Research Center (IBRC) beginning August 1, 2022. The Executive Director is a 12-month faculty position in either the tenure-track classification or non-tenure-track clinical classification. The rank of this position (assistant, associate, full) is open depending on experience and accomplishments. A candidate for a tenure-track classification should have a strong program of research leading to publications. The candidate's entire portfolio of activities beyond academic qualifications will be important in assessing their ability to advance the Center's mission.

Since 1925, the IBRC has maintained a dynamic portfolio of projects that provide and analyze social and economic information needed by the state's and nation's business, government, economic development and non-profit organizations, with the goal of putting analytical tools and practical research into the hands of decision makers. The IBRC maintains large temporal and spatial databases on topics such as income, employment, taxes, education, demographics and a host of other economic indicators for the nation, state, and local areas. It also conducts original research to provide practical solutions for economic and workforce development and to advance the boundaries of regional science.

The Executive Director is responsible for ensuring the IBRC fulfills its mission and for guiding the future strategy of the IBRC. The Executive Director directs the IBRC staff in development and use of economic data to build and sustain the ongoing portfolio of projects, oversees activities to secure funding for the Center's initiatives and research, and develops and maintains relationships with the Center's various external and internal stakeholders. The Executive Director also will teach a limited course load in the Kelley School's academic programs and participate in the School's service mission. A candidate hired in the tenure-track classification also is expected to continue a strong program of research publication.

Basic Qualifications

The appointment requires a PhD or DBA in business, a specific business field, economics, or related field and at least seven years post-doctorate research experience. Experience managing a research center and/or securing funding and grant awards is preferred.
