Position Summary

Under the leadership of the College President, this is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and accomplished individual to enhance the vision and accomplishments of fundraising efforts at HCC that supports the institution's goals and engages its various constituencies. Working closely with the President, his cabinet, Trustees, and key stakeholders throughout the community, the Executive Director will conceive of and establish a comprehensive program, capable of meeting the College's objectives and enhancing its resources and reputation. Founded in 1968 as part of a 28-member community college system, Hillsborough Community College (HCC) is currently the fifth largest district in the State of Florida, serving more than 42,000 students each year at its five campuses and three centers. HCC offers more than 200 academic programs and certificates and is responsible for training most of the community's first responders through its healthcare training, and police and fire academies. HCC enrolls the largest number of graduates from the School District of Hillsborough County who go on to higher education and is the largest community college feeder to the University of South Florida (USF) through the successful 2 + 2 Program. With a total annual budget of over $291.7 million, HCC employs more than 2,200 and has a total economic impact of more than $1.3 billion. Over 84 percent of HCC graduates stay in the local community, and, together, HCC and its former students contribute more than $860 million in added income and economic impact to Hillsborough County.

  • Seven years of progressively responsible experience in resource development and management of a development office and staff
  • Evidence of a successful track record of securing funding and leadership of successful advancement efforts.

    The Executive Director of Foundation provides leadership and supervision of the HCC Foundation. The position is responsible for fund raising and development of business contacts. The position reports directly to the College President.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Prefer applicants with:

  • Master's degree,
  • Certification as a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE),
  • Experience in managing major gift campaigns,
  • Considerable successful professional management experience in alumni relations and annual fund from an institution of higher learning, and
  • Knowledge of planned giving strategies
  • Supplemental Job Information

    Duties include:

  • Plans, develops, and implements all activities of the College's Foundation and advancement programs to include campaign design, brochure development and marketing, external fund raising, and special events and community activities.
  • Encourages contributions to special funds through endowments, trusts, donations of gifts-in-kind, or bequests. Makes solicitations for private donor support, corporate giving, and public funding resources for the Foundation, and to benefit the College and its students.
  • Represents HCC in the community through active participation in community events, speaking engagements, committee assignments, etc.
  • Contributes to the development and implementation of the alumni association relations and related activities. Contributes to the development of annual and long- range strategies for alumni resource development.
  • Responsible for fiscal record keeping, expenditure, fund management,the Foundation's endowment and unrestricted accounts.
  • Liaison with other College offices to ensure the institution is a vital force in the community, fulfilling its role as a provider of higher education in Hillsborough County.
  • Performs other similar and related duties as required.

    This position requires at least an awarded Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited educational institution.
