Position Summary Information

Job Goal

Provide skilled assistance to the President and Board of Trustees and to perform legal duties of board secretary as required by Code of Iowa.

Duties and Responsibilities

President's Office

Coordinate the President's activities and calendar, schedule appointments; confer with the President about the calendar, upcoming events and invitations; and coordinate meetings, travel arrangements, and events.

Assist the President in his/her overall goals and responsibilities including keeping the President informed of all relevant matters in the areas of the President's responsibility.

Perform all secretarial and clerical functions related to the President's office, President's Cabinet, Iowa Association of Community College Presidents, and Iowa Association of Community College Trustees in a professional manner.

Board

Coordinate Board of Trustee meetings including: preparing meeting agendas, preparing and distributing information and materials; recording and preserving minutes; and maintaining and disseminating official records of all Board actions.

Perform the duties of Board Secretary as required by Code of Iowa assuring that all legal requirements for the Board are met including those related to elections, board policies, and other statutory responsibilities.

Act as custodian of documents and records of the College ensuring proper preservation of historical records.

Qualifications

Executive secretarial work experience required. Post-secondary education necessary. Community college experience preferred. Excellent oral and written communication. Excellent organizational and time management skills and ability to proficiently conduct general office procedures.
