Job Description:

The Campus Center at the University at Albany seeks an Event Technology Coordinator to aid in establishing better lines of communication with faculty, staff, and students to facilitate smooth event management. The Campus Center is the premiere space for events, workshops, meetings, conferences, and informal gatherings, delivering on event priorities related to quality customer care is essential for the end user's experience. The Coordinator will work with campus constituencies to design a logistical plan that will outline their sound and technological needs for their particular event. The Coordinator will have responsibility for the department's sound and technology equipment, communicating with groups around their needs, as well as overseeing the website, social media accounts, and marketing. The incumbent individual would also help to train and certify our current student technical team.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work with clients on all details of their meetings, ensuring all services are present, proper technology is in place and the configuration is to their specifications.
  • Establish better lines of communication with faculty, staff, and students, which will help in the smooth facilitation of event management. This communication includes phone, email, and regular mail.
  • Provide leadership, motivation, direction, and support to the Student Technical Services Team.
  • Onsite equipment inspections, supervision, and managing events.
  • Review all incoming Campus Center reservation requests, examining them for potential time conflicts, technical requirements, and logistical requirements (staff, space usage, etc.).
  • Have a thorough working knowledge of AV equipment setup, operation, and breakdown.
  • Assist with support for multi-media broadcasting, and hybrid or virtual events.
  • Carry out regular preventative room checks, ensuring all equipment functions correctly in accordance with the room check procedure. Be able to properly test and diagnose audio/video equipment and make appropriate repairs if necessary.
  • Requirements:

    Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized accrediting organization
  • 1-2 years of professional experience in a related field
  • Ability to set up and troubleshoot Audio/Visual equipment, including an understanding of laptop computer video output functions and how they interface with projectors and smart TV's
  • Must be able to work as a team player while also able to work independently
  • Must be able to position self to install/troubleshoot equipment, including underneath desks/lecterns
  • Must be able to move Audio/Visual equipment weighing up to 40 pounds
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position during events, which may last up to 2 hours
  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to work with and in a multicultural environment
  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized accrediting organization
