Reporting to the Senior Associate Director of Parent Philanthropy and Engagement, the Event Associate, Parent Philanthropy and Engagement is responsible for assisting in the planning and execution of UCI Parent Engagement events. The Event Associate will also focus on the development of a marketing and communications strategy focused on increasing engagement and financial contributions. Responsibilities include event coordination as well as some writing, parent e-newsletters, stewardship, website/social media content, and other marketing materials highlighting ways for parents and families to be connected to the university.

$27.54 - $28.97 (Hourly Rate) Expected Pay Range within the Full Salary Range $25.57 - $45.02 (Hourly Rate)

Required:

• At least one year in event support work.

Bachelor?s degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.

Working knowledge of concepts, principles and practices of event planning and production and public relations. Working organizational skills, including skill in effectively coordinating and organizing multiple details. Excellent organizational abilities appropriate to effective calendar management and student and / or volunteer scheduling. Good interpersonal communication skills and political acumen, including skill in effectively representing the campus, medical center or other university organization to its publics. Good judgment and effective decision-making and problem resolution skills, including skill to recognize and deal effectively and appropriately with real and potential problem areas, including skill to determine the issues / problems that need to be brought to the attention of higher level staff and / or management. Ability to work in diverse groups, including but not limited to students, staff, faculty, general public, production personnel, technical operators and performing artists. Ability to work professionally under pressure and under tight deadlines ensuring excellent customer service support. Ability to be flexible in working independently as well as collaboratively with colleagues, faculty and staff to achieve defined goals. Demonstrated skill to handle sensitive, confidential information and requests generated by high-level business executives, major donors or campus administrators.

Preferred:

Working knowledge of the campus, its programs, policies, mission, goals, objectives, achievements and infrastructure. Knowledge of UCI accounting policies and skill in preparing accounting forms such as invoices, travel vouchers, purchase orders, and check requests in order to process invoices.

Special Conditions Required:

Must be able to work nights and weekends as required for events.
