Department Description

The Center for Health Equity Research (CHER) brings together collaborative, multidisciplinary teams of scholars and community members to improve health in underserved communities through a shared commitment to health equity, innovation, and translational research. The vision of the Center is to create and maintain cross-disciplinary synergy: The combination of individual perspectives, resources, and skills creates a whole that is greater than the sum of its parts and results in research collaborations with increased creativity and more comprehensive solutions to complex problems. The Center does this through advancing research methods, effectively translating research discoveries, conducting research that addresses patient and community-centered outcomes, and viewing equity in health care as an issue of quality.

The Evaluation Project Coordinator position will be within Abacus, the program evaluation and research consultancy within CHER. Abacus specializes in collaborating with health and human service organizations with a mission to foster innovation and advance equity in research and health outcomes through evaluation. Dr. Dave, Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine and Associate Director of CHER, is the Director of Abacus. Abacus's leadership consists of experienced evaluators who maintain currency with state-of-art research and evaluation methodologies. Abacus evaluators use various quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-method approaches to address the research and evaluation questions identified in its portfolio of projects. This position will work specifically within Abacus to assist with a time-limited research project within the Rapid Acceleration of Diagnostics-Underserved Populations (RADx-UP) Coordination and Data Collection Center (CDCC). The CDCC is a collaboration between UNC and Duke Clinical Research Institute (DCRI). The CDCC supports the National Institutes of Health's RADx-UP Program, rooted in a community-centered approach that engages communities involved in this program by providing a robust, flexible, participatory, transparent, and sustainable infrastructure to advance COVID-19 testing science according to the needs and interests of communities.

Position Description

This recruitment is for three (3) Evaluation Project Coordinators: 20038798, 20038799 and 20038293. By applying, you will be considered for each of the vacancies.

The Evaluation Project Coordinator position will be housed within the Tracking and Evaluation (T&E) unit of RADx-UP CDCC, and will be responsible for providing research support for the day-to-day initiatives and activities of T&E. The T&E Unit of the RADx-UP CDCC conducts innovative developmental evaluation to support the effectiveness of the RADx-UP CDCC in serving RADx-UP awardees to ensure all Americans have access to COVID-19 testing, with a focus on communities most affected by the pandemic. Activities to support this work will include but not be limited to: evaluation oversight and coordination, organizing and planning work operations, project management and supervision, and other related business and administrative responsibilities that pertain to the evaluation of RADx-UP CDCC; serving as an external-facing T&E point of contact for RADx-UP CDCC.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the field assigned and one year of related training or experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Essential Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Outlook, and internet browsers. Ability to use project management software (Asana preferred). Ability to use survey software (REDCap and Qualtrics preferred). Excellent organizational and time management skills and the ability to consistently follow through and follow up with assignments of others. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Ability to identify needs and develop and implement improvements. Strong attention to detail with a focus on ensuring accuracy, validity, and integrity of data. Ability to clearly, concisely, professionally, and effectively communicate in writing and verbally with staff, faculty, and individuals in other organizations, including report writing.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree preferred. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. Prefer candidates who have experience using project management software (preferably Asana). Prefer candidates who have research background/experience in social research and/or evaluation.
