Position Summary: The purpose of this course is to provide Teacher Candidates with a general understanding of mental health issues affecting children and youth in the classroom. Issues to be addressed in the course include an overview of the most common mental health issues in today's classroom, especially as these issues interfere with learning opportunities, as well as the roles of different professionals within a multidisciplinary model, resources available to teachers, and ways in which teachers can promote good mental health in the classroom as part of their everyday practice.

Successful candidate will work with the course lead in order to provide consistency across sections.

Qualifications – Required: Master's degree in education or related discipline; Evidence of work in the area of Mental Health within the K-12 system; Evidence of leadership and/or scholarship in the area of School Mental Health.

Qualifications – Discipline: Education or related content area.

Qualifications - Areas of Specialization: Mental Health.

Qualifications - Preferred or an asset: Doctoral degree in education or related discipline; Bachelor of Education and/or K – 12 Teaching Certification; K – 12 teaching experience; post-secondary teaching experience in teacher education; Teaching in Ontario schools (K-6 experience for PJ sections, grades 4-10 for JI sections).

Salary: 4,207.50
