Provide direct system administration overseeing an institution-wide access, ID, debit, CCTV, and point of sale (POS) systems, consisting of over 1,500 devices, both on and off campus, including three colleges /universities and the City of Burlington. Collaborate with department director in shaping the future path of the enterprise ID, debit, and access system (CBORD); the university-wide closed-circuit television (Qognify VMS CCTV) system; and point of sale system (MICROS). Lead campus-wide CCTV and door installation projects. Provide technical support and analysis related to functioning on UVM networks; personal computing devices; software systems; CBORD privilege control and Qognify VMS CCTV public safety systems. Provide complex technical support and perform analysis related to implementation and operation of networks, servers, personal computing devices, software systems, and services. Perform skilled assessment, diagnostics, and/or repair of equipment/computer components. Perform software/hardware maintenance, and troubleshooting. Design, develop, and implement new and existing interfaces between card systems and other campus information systems. Respond to system emergency calls. This position requires being part of an on-call rotation. Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
Associate degree in technology field and 4-5 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience which may include a bachelor's degree and less experience. Knowledge of client/server environments, Windows Server and Windows operating systems required. Programming with SQL in an Oracle environment required. Effective customer service and project management skills. Valid drivers license required to operate university vehicle to travel to worksites. Must be able to regularly lift 40 lbs., perform work in confined spaces, inclement weather, or on ladders. This position requires being part of an on-call rotation.
Desirable Qualifications
Experience with CBORD CS-Gold and/or Qognify VMS CCTV Technology highly desirable. Occasional overtime/weekend hours required.
