The Environmental Health & Safety Specialist will support the Director of Environmental Health and Safety in maintaining Bowdoin College's comprehensive Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Program. The Safety Specialist will work under the direction of the Director of EHS and be responsible for coordinating and conducting safety training, managing regulated wastes, directing hazardous material clean-up efforts, reviewing and revising safety plans, programs, and policies, assisting with job hazard analyses and exposure assessments, administering the HAZCOM program and acting as a “competent person” for some protrams. The position conducts routine inspections and audits of fire and life safety systems, emergency equipment, building safety, regulated waste collection areas, and generates associated reports. This position also requires data collection, managing compliance records, and sending out communications to both internal and external groups.
