Enterprise Manager: Permanent, Part time (21.75 hours per week)

We are currently seeking an Enterprise Manager to join our Bright Red Triangle team which sits within the Research, Innovation and Enterprise Department at Edinburgh Napier University.

Our Bright Red Triangle start up studio provides a welcoming environment where entrepreneurial Edinburgh Napier students, staff and alumni can come together to connect, develop enterprise skills, and collaborate on exciting new projects and ventures as well as form valuable relationships with the wider entrepreneurial community in Edinburgh.

  • The Role

    The post holder is responsible for identifying, developing, supporting and reporting on a growing pipeline of student, alumni and staff entrepreneurs. The BRT Enterprise Manager will provide business advice and mentoring to support aspiring entrepreneurs from our student and graduate communities and to support the commercialisation of IP developed in the university.

    In addition, the post holder is responsible for developing and implementing a range of classroom and digital teaching resources which can be used by academic teaching staff in their programmes as well as designing and delivering training programmes which are offered directly to the Bright Red Triangle community.

    Responsibilities include:

  • Identify, review, evaluate and develop start-up opportunities emerging from the student, staff, and alumni communities, providing bespoke, high- quality business start-up advice to winning ideas.
  • Create and manage enterprise programmes to be delivered internally, externally, and internationally to inspire, develop and grow the entrepreneurial community, These programs will have a direct impact on the number of start-ups launched successfully and promote Edinburgh Napier University in the Scottish Enterprise ecosystem.
  • Provide training advice and mentoring to university spinouts to commercialise research, raise funding, and successfully spinning out creating revenue for the university.
  • Identify and build effective relationships with internal and external contacts in the enterprise ecosystem to encourage their involvement with Edinburgh Napier University including Enterprise Partners.
  • Where appropriate, help start-up teams to access funding
  • What we'll need from you

  • Experience of working with start-ups and young businesses as a practitioner, advisor, mentor or consultant; helping them to start up and grow a business
  • Significant experience of managing a high volume of pre-formation and early stage businesses and a track record of successful case histories
