Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Assistant Dean of Education, the Enrollment
Licensure Specialist works to assist the School of Education candidates from
admission to graduation and licensure. The specialist evaluates and documents
student completion of all necessary requirements to qualify for state educator
license. The applicant will ensure the Education Preparation Provider's
(EPP) goals and practices align with state licensure requirements and CAEP
(Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation) standards. The
applicant will also perform other duties relative to the service of faculty,
staff, and the public in carrying out the functions of the Education
Department.

Assist the university in implementing the Statement of Purpose
Assist the university in implementing the long-range institutional and
financial plans.
Review each student's progression and completion of all requirements
necessary for state licensure in all university approved programs for
initial licensure and endorsements.
Utilize the MDE Educator Career Continuum Archive (MECCA) System or
other state DOE systems for the licensure application process.
Serve as the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity
Agreements (NC-SARA School of Education liaison and ensure compliance
with organization policy.
Schedule and hold informational meetings (in-person and virtual) and
share information each trimester for students and faculty regarding the
licensure application process.
Work with program coordinators to ensure university catalog, website,
degree plans, and recruitment materials are aligned to licensure updates.
Recommend needed policies and program modifications related to changes in
licensure requirements.
Attend MDE professional development sessions and remain current on
guidelines for educator licensure.
Maintain EDU electronic forms and data collection required for licensure.
Maintain an effective working relationship with university personnel,
students, and the community.
Support recruitment efforts by responding to questions of students,
assisting students in registration needs and questions and communicating
daily with applicants and inactive students.
Be available for occasional recruiting opportunities for the School of
Education.
Assist supervisor with additional tasks as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree
Experience working in a pK-12 educational setting.
Ability to respect and adhere to strict confidentiality requirements.
Demonstrated proficiency in the use of common office productivity
software, including Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
Ability to learn WCU's student database software.
Ability to simultaneously handle multiple tasks, solve practical problems
and deal with a variety of situations.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to exercise sound judgment in establishing and maintaining
effective working relationships with students, fellow employees, the
Department of Education, the University community, and the public in
general.
Valid driver's license and insurance
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in the Education
Leadership experience working in a K-12 educational setting.
Current educator's license.
Physical Demands
Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting, and to use
standard office equipment including a phone and computer.
Must have vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing
and speech to effectively communicate in person and over the telephone.
Must have the ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time (up to
4 hours consistently)
Must have strength and agility to move files, paper boxes, and minor
office equipment.
Must be able to maintain office hours and perform duties in an on-campus
setting.
Ability to drive to recruitment events.
