Kennziffer: SE 2021/8

At PVcomB, we develop thin-film photovoltaic and related technologies in cooperation with industry. PVcomB ensures innovative technology transfer through industry-oriented research projects as well as the education and training of skilled PV professionals. We also contribute to CatLab , a catalysis research platform aimed at innovation in the development of sustainable energy carriers for the green energy transition. To support our research, we are looking for an engineer. You will be a member of our Photovoltaics to Fuels Technology (PVFT) Group. The main focus of this group to develop device concepts that integrate photovoltaic devices with electrolysers for the purpose of generating fuels such as hydrogen from solar energy.

Your tasks will be
  • To carry out depositions of thin film (electro-) catalysts using techniques such as electrochemical deposition, atomic layer deposition, evaporation, sputtering, among others.
  • To characterize, and test the performance of (electro-) catalysts using different techniques such as gas chromatography, mass spectrometry and electrochemical analysis.
  • To analyse and document test results and enter experimental data into the electronic laboratory notebook.
  • To take responsibility for various laboratory equipment including the chromatography system and mass spectrometer, compiling standard working procedures, ensuring quality of measurements through e.g. maintenance and calibration.
  • Requirements
  • University graduate with Bachelor in chemistry, physical chemistry, chemical engineering or comparable qualification.
  • Practical experience in an analytical chemical laboratory for catalyst research.
  • Technical knowledge of gas analysis using chromatography and mass spectrometry.
  • Broad experience with analytical equipment especially for gas chromatography and mass spectroscopy.
  • Proficient in both spoken and written German and English.
  • What we offer you
  • An attractive and secure job with excellent opportunities for professional and personal development in the context of exciting and forward-looking project
